David Hull is adopted. Jean thinks her parents should adopt Lee, an

it complements the theme of fiding one's roots because Jean deosn't have a brother or sister so adopting a child would be perfect so Jean has somoene to talk to, rely on and trust. finding your roots is important so you know who you are and what you have to do.
Jean wanted her parents to adopt lee, because she finds Lee very compatible, where as David Hull is a shy person and is less communicative. Roots are important so that you can understand yourself,who man I?,who are my ancestors? What is common between me and my ancestors? Are some intriguing questions which we can understand If we know our roots. But as a person you can share some traits common with people who do not belong to your family and you can still treat them as your family cause you have something in common.

Knowing our roots would also give us identity for ourselves when we tell others about our roots.
