  1. Jean knows her home is in China but she longs for America. making her homesick. A home is the place were you live.

  2. As Jean is not treated well in China for the fact that she is a foreigner, she thinks she will belong in America just because she is American. This can be complicated, because she is predicting that America will be a perfect place for her when she hasn't even been there. In my opinion, I don't think she should be homesick for a place where she has never been, because being homesick refers to missing many different things like friends, schools and food in the place and she hasn't even met those things. But in the other hand, I also understand that she wants to be in her own country with her relatives and in a country where she always wished to be.

"House" would be the place where you live, but I dont't think "home" is the right word for that. "Home" would be a place where everybody appreciates you, you can feel the importance be, and yourself without hesitation.

  3. Jean is does not feel like she belongs in China, because she is a foreigner. She believes that going back to America will make her feel like she is belongs, because she is American and strongly thinks she will love it. I think she can and should miss America and should wish to be there, but I don't think she could be homesick, because she has never been to America and cannot really miss the culture and people if she hasn't seen and met them yet.
"Home" is a place where you and your family and friends live, where you belong and where you can be yourself.
I think that for Jean doesn't have one particular home she may truly belong in America, but there will always be a part of Jean in China, which I would consider her second "home"

  4. It is true that Jean was homesick for a place she has never even stepped a foot into. But this is because she thinks she’ll be more acknowledged in America for the fact that foreigners are extremely disliked in China. Still Jean was too focused on making it back that she probably forgets that she may not be accepted in America because of her being born in China. This fact does make her feel unaccepted in her own country, when she was teased and left alone all the time.

This makes her feel she has no home at all. She does have a home in America, but home is just not the place you live in. It’s more than that. Home has a explicit meaning. Home is not only where you live, it is where you are accepted, acknowledged, loved and supported. In this book, Homesick, Jean doesn’t know where her home is because she truly doesn’t know where she belongs.

  5. Well Jean is homesick about America but how can this be, because she has never been to America or known how are the people there in America. Jean thinks she belongs in America just because she is an American or because she is treated rude and badly in China because she is a foreigner. Home is where everyone knows you like family, friends or relatives and where everyone knows where you belong which makes you feel like you are at home. But in Jeans story she doesn’t know where is her home at all and because of that she cannot state that her home is in America. But even though she says that her home is in America there will be a part of Jean in China.

  6. Jean is homesick to a place for a place she has never seen---I feel jean connects to the description given by her grandmother through the letters. She pictures that she belong in that place and not in china where she is presently staying.
Home is a place where you can belong with your family and friends, it is also where we are accepted as who we are and what we do.

  7. 1. She is homesick because she is from America. She's never actually visited her own country. I can tell she is very anxious to get to America. She calls America home also because she is going to live there soon 2. Home is a place where you live, not where you haven't been to. It is also where your family and friends are.

  8. She was born and lives in china but she longs to America. She has never been to America but she knows that she longs there. She doesn't know how America is and she only knows about her grandparents. A Home is a place where you live, know about and were your family lives for example for jean America.
"This is not my home, my home is in Colombia."
