  1. this book takes place in china on the time of the communist revolution where Jean, a girl born in china, thinks she is a full American. She strives for America and counts each and every day. But with communists come guns and warfare. Jean eventually has to flee from holiday to stay safe, and go to America. I recommend this book to people 12 and above as that is about the age of Jean when she leaves and it is to violent for younger kids. I give it four stars out of five.

  4. "Homesick" is an autobiography about an American girl named Jean, who was born and lived in China for her whole life, untill she had to leave due to the protests and war by the Chinese people for Communism. She explains her feelings and events that took place when she was in China. She felt homesick for a place where she's never been to, America, because the Chinese people was against all the foreigners. This is a very detailed book, so I would recommend it to Seconday students and I think adults would enjoy it, too. I would rate four stars ★★★★☆ for this book.

  6. This book, is a story of growing up and fitting in, just with a twist. The book takes place in the 1920s of China during the Communist war. A girl named Jean was an American living in china. She faced the anger of the rebelling Chinese locals who seemed to extremely hate the foreigners. With this, she longed to go back to her home she has never seen, surprisingly. But the more she longs for a home where she is accepted, the more it slips away from her. She faces even more challenges with war-torn China but finally makes it back. Even though she wasn’t completely satisfied with the results with being in America, she accepted and moved on to make her future. This autobiography is a magnificent way to read abut a girl experiencing a war and at the same time trying to fit in. I would highly recommend this book for children 10 and above. I would also give this book a 4 out of 5 stars, ****, because it is a great book.

But eventually Jean's father had to stay for the Communists war. I would probably give this book *** stars.
